Steps to Visual Freedom
STEP-1
Surgical consultation and Surgeon's consent

Surgical consultation and Surgeon's consent In the initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss the patient's ocular history, general health, age, occupation, and hobbies in order to ascertain suitability for Lasik surgery. Ocular examinations including measurements, scans, and refractive
error will be carried out. Following the consultation, the patient will watch the consent video, which outlines the surgical procedure in detail. When it is agreed that the candidate is suitable for this procedure, a patient consent form
is required to be signed. If a patient resides outside a 100km radius of Hamilton, the initial consultation can be arranged with one of our co-managing optometrists in the appropriate area. Postoperative visits can also be arranged with one of
these optometrists. In some cases extra checks may be required, for example contact lens trials for monovision in presbyopic patients. Again, if living outside the Hamilton area, these can also be arranged with your local optometrist.
STEP-2
Surgical Procedure

Family members are welcome to accompany patients during preoperative and postoperative consultations. The experienced surgical team is happy to answer any further questions, and will ensure patients are comfortable throughout the procedure. On completing administration requirements, the patient will be taken to the preoperative area to be prepared for surgery.
STEP-3
Postoperative surgical visits

Postoperative surgical visits Postoperative care is imperative to achieve a fast recovery. The surgeon will carry out a postoperative visit the day following surgery. Additional postoperative checks can be made at our clinic, or you can return to an appointed optometrist in your area. The cost of all postoperative care is included in your surgical fee for up to six months following your surgery date. If patients require additional postoperative visits outside of six months, costs may be incurred by the patient. Postoperative visits recommended:
| 1 day | (always performed at Bridgewater Laser Eye Surgery) |
| 1 week |
(at our clinic or at your optometrist) |
| 1 month |
(at our clinic or at your optometrist) |
